SUBFRAMING


Subframing is a photographic compositional technique that uses a framing device inside of the image to frame the subject.

The framing device could be any number of things--from a window to tree branches, but in every case the frame surrounds the subject creating somewhat of a picture-within-a-picture effect.  The video below explains it quite thoroughly.
